Today’s wedding inspiration mixes cultural traditions with modern design.

Designing an event to reflect the multicultural identity of this couple (who had just gotten engaged one day before! Willow & Ivy Events created a space to bring Bollywood style into the modern day. This design, which incorporates trendy decor (such as anemone flowers or watercolor stationery) and pays homage to the cultural heritage of the bride and groom, is as vibrant as the purple-and-gold color scheme suggests.

The bride’s traditional wedding look and a Sari are particularly striking. Her bridal Sari is stunning, made of rich purple chiffon and embroidered with champagne gold. It’s paired perfectly with an ever-trendy, yet traditional, gold headpiece.

The Willow & Ivy Events

The two models who participated in this shoot inspired this styled shoot. The day before this shoot, these two lovebirds got engaged at the Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum of Seattle, Washington! Alexandra of Willow & Ivy Events chose a color palette of deep purples and gold to complement the navy blue of the bride’s Sari. The bride’s Pakistani and groom’s Indian heritage were to be subtly reflected in the shoot.

Leigh & Mitchell blew us away with their floral designs. We loved the hanging foliage as a backdrop. The backdrop with hanging foliage was one of our favorite details! The centerpiece and bouquet comprised Anemones (Hellabore), Roses, Ranunculus, and Pieres. The eclectic mix of flowers gave the tablescape a modern feel.

We chose to show the culture of the brides and grooms instead of a big, white wedding gown. The bride and groom wore their traditional Indian and Pakistani attire. The navy blue Sari of the bride was a perfect match for the deep purples in the tablescape. Her headpiece, which was silver and gold, matched the threading of her outfit. The navy and gold outfit of the groom looked great next to his bride.

We wanted to incorporate cultural elements into the desserts while maintaining a modern look. Seatown Sweets adapted this idea to create a marriage of the two. The top tier of the two-tiered, modern purple cake featured a Mehndi design. Sugar cookies were decorated in shades of purple, each featuring a unique Mehndi pattern.

We wanted to give the Bollywood theme a modern spin for the tablescape. We combined traditional elements like the low table, pillows, square chargers, and loose florals with modern touches such as a velvet table runner. Don’t forget to include the purple cutlery in your table design! The purple cutlery was a very unique addition to the table.
