Picture this: all the ornate beauty of an old-world palace wedding paired with nothing but modern, stylish groom’s attire. Does this sound like your dream wedding?

With the help of a talented team of stylists and florists, fine art photographer Gyan Gurung captured this elegant yet contemporary inspiration in Glynde Place – a stunning English estate. The couple imagined two stylish grooms with “a love of history, literature, fashion, modern interiors, and the color black.” With white anemones, bold watercolor invites, and a breathtaking, modern cake, black makes its way into the decor in the chicest fashion.

While black may be the stylish note in many details, the groom’s attire brightens thanks to Keye London’s fashionable selections. We’ve talked about how much we adore the creative black tie look for couples who want to go formal while showing a bit more personality.

Inspired by Australia’s recent ‘Yes’ vote on same-sex marriage, we wanted to create an intimate wedding inspiration shoot for two grooms led by their stories and personalities rather than trends. We also listened to our past same-sex couples and their frustration with the lack of stylish, modern inspiration when planning their weddings.

The shoot takes place in a historic Elizabethan country house, Glynde Place, tucked in the countryside of East Sussex, England. Marrying an old-world charm with modern fashion and sleek, masculine design, we bring you an editorial celebrating the love of our grooms, Rupert & Theodore.

We imagined a stylish couple who loved history, literature, fashion, modern interiors, and the color black. Their wedding would have a modern design with an ode to old-world charm through and through. One Stylish Day harmonized these juxtapositions- mixing concrete candle holders with 200-year-old antique church pews, pairing sleek black cutlery & taper candles with a trailing floral centerpiece and table runner. Indeed, it is a modern reimagination of a classic table design.

Bureau Design created the most incredible invitation suite that perfectly married the essence of our sophisticated couple through her modern typography in cotton rag paper, escort cards with a custom wax seal incorporating the couple’s initials, and watercolor place cards with hand-torn edges.

Butter Beautiful created a stunning cake with textured layers of jet black, grey, and cream on each tier. It is a perfect creation for a sophisticated and stylish couple.

The grooms read their vows to each other and said, ‘I do,’ surrounded by a bounty of candles and a striking foliage installation by Catherine Short Floral Design. They needed to showcase their styles while complimenting each other simultaneously. The grooms wore bespoke suits and shoes by Keye London.
