I never outgrew the “horsegirl” stage. I wish I could wear the English riding pants I used to have (we horsey girls wore high-waisted pants long before they became trendy!) I melt in my everyday wardrobe every time I watch a wedding featuring horses. It’s about time we featured some real Argentinian gauchos, right?
This boho, luxurious bridal shoot was inspired by the polo fields of Puesto Viejo estancia and its bed and Breakfast. Burlap & Bordeaux was given a blank canvas with flat green fields, manicured lawns, and an old-world estate to create this bohemian fantasy. The crew used pale pink and tangerine pops to make this country scene.
The attire of our bride and groom is perhaps the best example of this upscale style. The bride’s boho dresses and sparkling headpieces give off a Gatsby-esque vibe perfect for the luxe polo estate. We love that our groom can still have the gaucho style by pairing a classic Argentinean hat with modern menswear.
From Burlap & Bordeaux
Inspiration was taken from a traditional wedding in a polo-field setting. We wanted to highlight Argentina’s venue, architecture, and culture.
Puesto Viejo is a beautiful bed & Breakfast and polo club in the middle Argentine countryside. You can always see professional polo athletes on the property or in the field. The clubhouse design is modern and traditional to Argentine style with its tall, carved wood doors. I wanted to capture this all in the photo shoot.
The bed and Breakfast was a fantastic experience. It was surreal. The rooms were beautifully decorated, and we woke up every morning to the sound of wild birds outside. The staff welcomed us as we walked to the dining area. They served us three delicious meals per day, plus afternoon tea prepared by a private chef on site. We know the wedding food will be excellent because these meals were terrific!
The Details
The vendors we worked with were terrific. The venue provided the tables, catering, and cake. They also offered venue space, a polo player, a horse, and hotel accommodations. Akende Eventos provided the furniture, ceremony arches, and decor.
We brought our make-up artist and photographer from the States. I got the Dreams America Linens, a cream velvet with a sheer overlay of tulle for sweetheart tables adorned with hand-sewn pearls and crystals.
Lauren from Lauren Lauren Lauren made our invitation suite, and Teagan did the calligraphy. Catalina styled the models and provided three custom-made gowns. Her dress designs were stunning!
Favorite moments
Our shoot was in the middle of winter (July, hahaha), so it was cold and rainy. It rained as we were setting up! What are we going to do? As thunder and lightning hit, and rain began to pour even more heavily, I said, “the rain will eventually pass”. We laughed nervously and kept working.
As luck would have it, at precisely 3 p.m. the sun broke through the clouds, allowing us to begin shooting. This shoot was a celebration of Argentina in every detail. It was hard to miss. We wanted to be true to the culture. It was great to showcase the countryside and have a polo pony!
The Venue
The opportunity to work in Argentina was a dream come true. Canuelas is located in the countryside, about 30 minutes from Buenos Aires. It would be a fantastic experience to think of doing a destination marriage here.
This venue offers a truly unique experience. It is beautiful and also a fantastic place to stay. The bride and groom are treated to a 2-night stay in the hotel, which includes meals prepared by the chef. They will be able to enjoy the same experience as I did. The staff speaks both English as well as Spanish, which is very helpful. They can also help with travel arrangements from the airport to the hotel.
