Reception Trends for 2011
Inside or Out?

Private property/estate weddings are becoming increasingly popular this season. We have always loved and for this reason specialise in outdoor weddings! This trend incorporates a rustic feel by combining weathered timbers and natural stone with brass and crystal style elements. Along with this trend of outdoor weddings, a new take on garden style occasions are a favourite also.

The Style Salon produces gorgeous wedding stationary. What trends in terms of texture & style do you see coming through?

We are doing a lot of hand sewn pieces, using beautiful textured linens, French lace not to mention a touch of bling.

Old is still new. The 2010 wedding season has seen a run on everything vintage, which will continue to be a popular trend. Lovers of all things vintage have translated this idea to wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, décor and styling for the whole event. The vintage trend also inspires waistcoats for the boys and the come back of the bow-tie for the super modern weddings.

Navy is the new black. Bridesmaids are opting for dark navy dresses paired with bold accessories. The emergence of navy has been subtle but we think in 2011 momentum for this colour will trend upwards. We love navy dresses paired with a burnt orange pair of shoes and/or accessories.

Bling is in. Headpieces and veils featuring heavily encrusted Swarovski crystals interlaced with vintage lace and blooms.

Bold bouquets. Straying away from traditions, 2011 will see more daring combinations such as charming rustic bouquets filled with clusters of blue-black privet berries, intermixed with sweet peas, narcissus finished off with a loop of grosgrain ribbon.

Candy Bars. Guests helping themselves to a beautifully designed candy bar, in-place of traditional bonbonniere. What could be better? Thanks to Amy Atlas, 2010 has seen Candy Bars starting to take off, which will continue into 2011. Choices will be come more elaborate with massive vases filled with boiled lollies, lashings of liquorice, fairy floss, candy canes all in keeping with a theme and colour co-ordinated. For a twist on the take of dessert we’ll see the emergence of the old school ice cream vans. What a treat serving all of your guests an ice-cream cone or two!

Photobooths. The popularity of photobooths will continue as they are such a great way to capture memories of guests and the funny antics that happen at the reception! Hilarious props and enthusiastic participants make for an entertaining night and a great way for the Bride + Groom to involve all the guests at the reception.
